Campus Permaculture Design

Corporate and college campuses are a great location for a large scale permaculture design. Campuses have land, there are meals, showers, rooftops, and colleges have curriculum. The question is, how do we look at our college campuses?

Imagine when you went to college, in the fall, walking through campus, and you’re eating blueberries, and when you got to the cafeteria, the lettuce came from the garden over there. And your showers were going to a grey water filter that went to a pond that went to water the orchard that would normalize it for you as an individual. You would go somewhere else and be like, where’s the blueberries? At some point, you would look for that.

Let’s now imagine corporate campuses. What if you worked for a corporation that had a big campus, a farmer on site, and CSA boxes waiting for you every Monday morning? Or imagine having a challenging moment in your office, you can walk down, go eat some raspberries, talk to the farmer, and bring back a bowl of raspberries for your coworkers. Why isn’t that part of our culture? These are the kinds of designs we get excited about.
