Public Speaking

We say very transparently that our climate-ometer is pegged, the climate shift is on, everything we do now has to be thought through from the lens of climate change. That being said, we do have a message of hope.

We Have a Message of Hope

Being able to stand up in front of an audience and share a message of hope is a privilege and we really enjoy doing it! We’ve spoken at green conferences, permaculture conferences, arts conferences, Rotary Clubs, and more.

What we presented 10 to 15 years ago was cutting-edge information in the permaculture world. Today we share with audiences the brokering of hope concept. We take collective despair and transmute that into hope. Hope that then empowers and educates so that everyday decisions make an impact for you personally, for family, and for community. And for those who are willing and able to go into policy work, let us help you have the information and pathway to influencing policy.

Who Wants Change

There’s a great cartoon of the person at the lectern saying,

“Who wants change?” and everyone’s raising their hands saying, “I want change!” And then the next question is “who wants TO change?” and everybody looks at their feet.

Jenny’s 7th Grade Audience

When Jenny was building her portfolio of education for permaculture, she would speak to anyone. She spoke to the master fruit Growers Association, the Kiwanis Club, and seventh graders.

Jenny’s seventh grade class was really fun. She didn’t hold back. They were given a full permaculture overview with stunning imagery and pictures showing what people around the world were doing. They asked great questions and talked about everything from Monsanto to what you do at home.

Years later, Jenny was giving a presentation to the Seattle City Council on carbon neutral food. A young woman went up to her and said, “Remember me, I was at that seventh-grade lecture you gave. I’m 21 now and I just got back from doing permaculture in Honduras.” Soon after she became Jenny’s apprentice. She has done, and is still doing to this day, amazing work all around the world.

Never discount your audience. Your audience goes on!
