Tree Gleaning

The Beacon Food Forest inspired us to start a fruit tree gleaning project. There are all kinds of fruit trees around the city that people don’t harvest from. Sometimes they get bugs on them or they’re in the parks which leaves one asking, am I allowed to harvest it? So a group in Seattle partnered with Seattle Parks and started the fruit tree gleaning project. And now the parks will come and set up a booth, where they have food and drinks.  They have an organized group of people, neighborhood by neighborhood, that harvest all the fruit in that neighborhood and the volunteers get to take some home, some goes to the food bank, and they now have ways to distribute the food.

The biggest objection, hands down on all these projects, is the same question, what if homeless people come and eat the food? Our answer, that would be so great! The challenge really is to make sure that you have outreach to the homeless people that do come so they can help. Inviting them to Saturday workshops and they go.

Consulting + Design

Our clients are diverse. We work with everyone from a small backyard in an urban setting to give them an edible landscape where they can grow some vegetables and a couple fruit trees, and maybe have three chickens, all the way to, 1000-acre agroforestry projects in Central America.

Public Speaking

Getting an audience is a privilege. Being able to stand up in front of an audience and share a message of hope is a privilege. And we really enjoy doing it! We’ve spoken at green conferences, permaculture conferences, art conferences, Rotary Clubs, and more.

Permaculture Courses

Permaculture teachers are bound by the international standard curriculum, which holds the test of time. We really enjoy teaching permaculture, for us, it’s not enough anymore to just teach that curriculum, climate change must be taken into consideration.
